Who should draw up the Declaration of Conformity(DoC)?

When the manufacturer of a product or equipment has drawn up the technical documentation required by the directives and shown that the product meets all the essential requirements of the applicable directives following the conformity assessment procedure, the manufacturer shall ensure that a EU Declaration of Conformity is drawn up and signed.

The EU Declaration of Conformity shall be drawn up for products to be placed on the EU market, whereafter the manufacturer can affix the CE marking to the equipment.

In the event that an importer of products outside the EU is trading under its own name (Private Label), this importer is legally the manufacturer and has to draw up and sign the DoC.
