What are harmonized standards?

Harmonized standards are standards that may be applied to comply with a particular aspect of a directive.

For most products, it is not necessary to apply standards, but it is often necessary for more complex products.

Consider, for example, electromagnetic waves, medical products or, for example, products used in explosive atmospheres. In such cases, standards are recommended.

In doing so, you have to use so called harmonized standards.

In the CE Tool you will find these lists per directive. If you are looking for these standards at a standardization institute, check that this standard is harmonized under a Directive.
